RCFUMC Digital Ministry Team
We are excited to announce the forming of the RCFUMC Digital Ministry Team!
What is Digital Ministry? It’s the use of digital tools & online platforms to share faith, build community, and offer pastoral care beyond physical church walls. Key elements of digital ministryinclude online worship, virtual small groups, & social media outreach.
We’ll build upon our current website, Facebook, Instagram, & YouTube pages to enhance live streaming, engagement, & discipleship to increase connections, create digital faith spaces that foster real relationships and support systems.
Our Kick-Off Meeting is scheduled for Monday August 10 at 6pm in the RCFUMC Chapel. Interested? Want to learn more? Email Kevin Ott at chief_KO@hotmail.com or come out to the Kick-Off Meeting!
Monthly Mission Offering
Mom's Morning Out is an outreach ministry within our very own church walls. During the school year we welcome between 80 and 90 kids of all ages on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00am to noon. This affordable childcare program offers parents a chance to run errands and get a break. The teachers within the program are stay at home moms who are able to make an income while being able to bring their children. We strive to make it more than just a daycare program, but a community for fellowship and building relationships. We meet a lot of families from Ellsworth Air Force Base, as well as other areas in the Black Hills. We will be adding chapel times into the schedule this fall and always welcome volunteers, who can pass a background check! This is a huge opportunity for our church to build connections with families outside of Sunday morning programs. If you are interested in learning more about our program reach out to Hannah O’Donnell, MMO Director.
Ready! Set! Grow!
Part two of our Summer Garden Camp is scheduled for August 18, 19 and 20 from 9am to 12pm. At the time of this news brief we have over 75 children registered to dig their hands into the dirt and learn about the Fruits of the Spirit. We will learn how caring for creation, ourselves and others produces good fruit for all!
If you would like to help with camp, we can use volunteers at the registration desk, with serving snacks or in the classroom! Please reach out with your availability to anne.torgerson@rapidcityfirst.org.
Service
This week in Children's Church we learned about Jeremiah. Jeremiah was just a young teen when God called him into service. We talked about how God can use all of our talents to help serve in the church and how children are a very important part of the life of the church.
This fall RCFUMC would like to invite children and families into service on the first Sunday of each month. There are many opportunities for elementary and youth to contribute to worship service. Some of those jobs include:
Greeting and Handing Out Bulletins
Passing the Offering Plates
Serving as an Acolyte
Reading a Scripture
Leading the Call to Worship
Helping Serve Communion
Leading the Congregation in Prayer
We would like to invite families and children to participate in both the 9:00 a.m. and the 11:00 a.m. services.
If you know a child that is interested in serving in some capacity on a first Sunday, please contact Anne Torgerson or sign up at our upcoming Ministry Fair on Sunday, August 23.
Job Opportunity
Rapid City First United Methodist Church is seeking a detail-oriented problem-solver with some financial experience and/or education to share duties with our existing coordinator. The person would work with contributions, pay bills, account for expenditures, balance checkbook, execute payroll functions, issue annual tax forms, and assist in compiling annual budget among other financial and accounting duties. This is a part-time position of 8-10 hours per week.
