Use My Hands and Feet to Serve You, Lord!

There is one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we for Him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, through whom are all things, and through whom we live. 1 Corinthians 8:6

Will L. Thompson grew up in East Liverpool, Ohio in a financially comfortable family who helped transform the area into a pottery manufacturing region. By age sixteen he had already published two songs. He took music training in Boston and Germany. He published his own songs and with his earnings he established his own publishing business in Chicago. He wrote great hymns like “Softly and Tenderly Jesus Is Calling” and “There’s a Great Day Coming.” In 1904 he wrote
words and music for the beautiful hymn, “Jesus Is All the World to Me.” Will was a prominent land developer, widely traveled, well known, wealthy, and a generous philanthropist, supporting heavily the local East Liverpool YMCA and Emmanuel Presbyterian Church.

My prayer for the week: Dear Lord, thank you for giving us the opportunity to serve you. Help us to help others to lift up their tired hands, arms and hearts to know your glory and wonder of your precious name. Amen
