I’m New – Sunday Mornings

We are super excited to have you join us for worship. The following may be helpful in navigating a Sunday morning worship service at Rapid City First UMC. If you have any questions, call us at 605-342-4498.
Where do I park?
Most attendees park on the streets  and leave the tiny lot on the east side of the building available as a courtesy to our attendees with young children or mobility issues. Parking on the street is free on Sundays and in the evenings.
Which door do I go in for Sunday services?
If you park on the street, you’ll see patios on the north and west side of the building that funnel to double doors. Come on in either of the sets of double-doors – they enter the building near the sanctuary.
If you park in our tiny lot on the east side of the building, there’s a ramp that goes up to a door on the east side of the building – walk a few steps past the staircase and the sanctuary will be in view.
What should I wear?
Come as you are! At our services you’ll see t-shirts and suits and everything in between.
Is there anything for kids on Sundays?
Kids 0-4 years may be signed in at the nusery during any of the three services, but are welcome in the sanctuary with you as well. Kids who are five years or older may stay with their family in the sanctuary until it is time for Children’s Church.
Busy Bags are blue fabric bags hanging on racks just outside the sanctuary. Families can grab and use these during services. Busy bags include: clipboards with coloring and drawing pages, crayons, stickers, books, etc. to keep little people engaged.
The Children’s Message is usually presented by Miss Jessica and takes place during the worship services at 9:30 at the front of the church and is usually attended by kids in elementary school and younger. It will share a short message that has a similar theme to the sermon.
Children’s Church is available right after the Children’s Message during the 9:30 service. Kids in pre-school through third grade are invited to go upstairs for Children’s Church. Parents should come upstairs to collect their children after the service.
Join us in the Parlor (just behind the Sanctuary) before or after each service to meet others and enjoy refreshments.
