FAQs… for Sunday Mornings

Below are common questions for first-time Sunday visitors especially, but please ask if there’s anything else you are wondering. Contact us through Facebook or call the church office at 342-4498. We are happy to help!

What is there for kids, Sundays?

Kids 0-4 years may be signed in at the nusery during any of the three services, but are welcome in the sanctuary with you as well. Kids who are five years or older may stay with their family in the sanctuary until it is time for Children’s Church.

Busy Bags are blue fabric bags hanging on racks just outside the sanctuary. Families can grab and use these during services. Busy bags include: clipboards with coloring and drawing pages, crayons, stickers, books, etc. to keep little people engaged.

The Children’s Message is usually presented by Miss Lori and takes place during the worship services at 9:30 and 11 at the front of the church and is usually attended by kids in elementary school and younger. It will share a short message that has a similar theme to the sermon.

Children’s Church is available right after the Children’s Message during the 9:30 service. Kids in pre-school through third grade are invited to go upstairs for Children’s Church. Parents should come upstairs to collect their children after the service. More about kids’ programs.

Sunday School is available for preschool-4th grade upstairs in the children’s wing and for youth grades 5-12, downstairs in the youth wing. Parents of younger children should pick up their kids at their rooms. Youth will be released to go upstairs. More about kids’ programs.

Where do I park? If you need close access to a door and wheelchair ramp for mobility issues (age or health-related) or if you have babies and young children, we invite you to use the small lot between the church and the HOPE Center, just to the east of First Church. Please enter through that back door. If you don’t have those challenges, surrounding street parking is free on Sundays and in the evenings.

Which door do I go in for Sunday services? If you park on the street, you’ll see that before services start on Sunday mornings, smiling folks wearing bright green vests are standing out on the sidewalks. They are happy to show you in! If you’re running late (many members do, so don’t be shy), come on in either of the sets of double-doors. Greeters should be nearby to help you get settled.

What should I wear? Wear what you like. We are a mixed group. You’ll see everything from t-shirts and jeans to suits and sequins and on all age groups. Don’t stress. We’re just happy to be together!

How do I get around in your odd-shaped building? In the center of the building you will find the Sanctuary and the the Fellowship Hall on the Lower level.  One wing houses the offices on the main floor, the Upper Room upstairs, and some classrooms on the lower level.  The other wing houses the Chapel, Nursery, and choir room on the main floor with the Children’s Wing upstairs and the Youth wing downstairs.  Click here
